China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, through its subsidiaries, operates as an integrated oil and gas, and chemical company in the People's Republic of China.

Its oil and gas operations include exploring for, developing, and producing crude oil and natural gas; transporting crude oil, natural gas, and products by pipelines; refining crude oil into finished petroleum products; and marketing crude oil, natural gas, and refined petroleum products.

Chemical operations include the manufacture and marketing of chemicals for industrial uses.

As of December 31, 2005, the company had proved reserves of approximately 3,294 million barrels of crude oil and 2,952 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

In addition, it produces a range of petrochemical products, including intermediate petrochemicals, synthetic resins, synthetic fiber monomers and polymers, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber and chemical fertilizers.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. has a joint venture agreement with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and BP plc.

It has a strategic alliance with McDonald's Corp. to open drive-thrus in the People's Republic of China.

The company was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Beijing, the People's Republic of China.
