The Refining, Marketing, and Distribution segment's activities comprise marketing and trading crude oil and natural gas, and refined products, as well as refining and transport operations.

The Chemicals segment engages in processing and trading petrochemical products.

The company also engages in the banking and finance, and construction activities.

As of December 31, 2004, the company had proved hydrocarbon reserves of approximately 20.07 billion barrels of oil equivalent, including approximately 15.97 billion barrels of oil and approximately 24.6 trillion cubic feet of gas.

It also operated a network of approximately 5,400 filling stations under the brand name 'LUKOIL' in Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States, Europe, and the United States, as of the same date.

The company was founded in 1993 and is based in Moscow, Russia.
